What did you do this past week?
This past week was more online classes, working out, studying, and finishing up assignments. I had a significant exam this week, so I spent a good amount of time studying for it. I also had a couple of assignments due, and I was able to get them finished in time.
What’s in your way?
I just need to make sure that I don’t lose motivation to keep working to finish out this semester. Online classes from home have definitely made a little bit more lazy than usual, so I need to make an active effort to stay on top of my work and health.
What will you do next week?
Next week should be very similar to this week: online classes, homework assignments, and working out. This has been my typical schedule throughout quarantine.
What was your experience of SQL?
I have had minimal exposure to SQL before this class, so I was glad to be learning some new material. Everything we have talked about so far in lecture (types of joins) has been relatively intuitive and I think I have a solid understanding of it so far.
What was your experience of the ethics material?
I found this week’s reading to be quite interesting (in comparison to the other readings that we’ve completed so far). I enjoy learning about this other aspect of the software world that we probably don’t discuss often enough. In the future, I hope to be able to take the computer science ethics course to learn more about these topics.
What made you happy this week?
I’ve been getting 8+ hours of sleep for most of this week, so that’s always a good thing. I’ve also been able to stick to my usual workout schedule, which is a big reason as to how I’ve kept sane during this quarantine.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
In order to make sure that you don’t become too lazy or unmotivated, I recommend making sure that you stick to a somewhat strict sleeping schedule and prioritize your sleep. If you go to bed and wake up at around the same time every day, it can have a profound impact on your daily schedule because it can help ensure that you don’t accidentally waste too much time doing something unproductive (browsing social media, watching TV, etc.).
